No Really!

Honestly I've been knitting. You just have not heard from me much as we've been processing our grief. You want to see what I've been working on?

First up we have D's new socks. You'll remember these started off as urgent vacation knitting. I picked up the Lang Yarns Super Soxx yarn in Mad About Ewe on Vancouver Island. It is Cashmere Color 4 Ply. They are very nice and stripy too like D likes his socks.

Now I wished I had picked up the red version of the yarn too. It was so nice to work with. No really so nice.

Then we have my rustic socks. Hey they're Canadian yarn too! Shelridge Yarns Soft Touch Heather in Bronze. Oh that one toe tip is in Gunmetal Blue though. Yep I ran out just a tinge shy. Good think I can always pick up another color at Rhinebeck.

Yes they're a wee bit loose but I cannot stand the feeling of my feet being strangled. It must have been all those ill fitting socks over the years. I also like my sweater arms just a bit longer too, for the same reason.

Since I've only got a pair of socks on the needles for Mom, I'm looking for new project. This handspun yarn from Into The Whirled fiber is calling to me.

As it was calling it jumped onto my ball winder. I think it wants to be a cowl. Maybe another Honey Cowl? Does lace work with variegated handspun? It is more of a green and blue than it shows here. Anybody have a suggestion?

Gus does not yet have an opinion. Well at least he is not willing to voice it now.

Which is pretty funny because he has been voicing quite a bit. I feel like I am always being scolded or kept on his schedule. I think he misses Jack but is enjoying being the only cat. It is much easier to demand attention then ignore that same attention when it's only you.

Socks on a Cat

Well since I can never seem to pin down D for his sock pictures, I called upon his stunt double Gustav.

First up we have Bittersweet Woolery's Frog Prince socks. With all the winter we were having I decided I needed something bright. Oh boy did these fit the bill. Good thing they were in my purse when I had to wait at the service station for a new battery. Winter killed off my old one.

Now the astute among you will note that the socks are in fact two shades the one on the left being more yellow while the one on the right is more green. I swear to you they were knit from the same skein of yarn. Now D has some totally unique super bright socks. Since he really is my Frog Prince.

Next up we have Gus modeling the first Pining for You sock from Socks that Rock Mediumweight.
I did a nice little cable down one side since it adds a bit of excitement to a lovely plain-ish yarn color.

This was not a warm day so Gus was not opposed to having wooly things draped over him.

Finally my sock was still on the needles for the photo shoot and that does not make for a happy kitty knitting model so Jack nosed in to prove my knitting is kitty approved.

Now up on the needles for D is Mt. Rutsen Studio Margarita socks. I was saving this yarn for the dark winter days but somehow it missed the rotation twice now. I could not think of it sitting till next year, and since the grass may be uncovered it still is not growing yet. This color shall amuse me in the mean time. Totally not in my normal color selections but I am adoring it so far. Now if I could just find a cable to highlight the color.

I'm going to go feed the cats then look through a few knitting books

One Tough Guy

Well that was one heck of an emotional roller coaster weekend. Gus started vomiting Friday night. And what started off as a "whew, good thing that happened on Friday, we get to rest up after that night" turned into a full blown storm of a weekend.

Gus was hospitalized for a 24 to 48 hour hold Saturday afternoon. We got him back Sunday night. Monday morning I had to tear myself away from this...

...to go to work.

Gus is 17 and I don't know how many more trips to the ER, Gus and I will make. I have watched him make a slow decline. It is tough sitting on the sidelines, cheering him on, to take hit after hit. He is one heck of a tough guy but even tough guys ultimately throw in the towel.

I cried my eyes out this weekend thinking every minute that I might have to make the decision. And hating the fact that I would have to make it in a place where neither one of us had any happy memories.

The relief on Sunday, that we would most likely not have to make that decision on that day was immeasurable. Today I decided that I need to talk to my vet about when to make that decision. Like any other test of strength I need to start training for it.

Gus would like to show off his latest battle scar...they shaved his leg for the IV.

Yeah, I am one tough mother lover. (But Dad is really my favorite.)

A fine line

There is a fine line between Crazy Cat Lady and being a good cat mommy. Me? I don't worry too much about looking crazy, my vet and his staff already know that I am.

When we returned from our visit to South Dakota, my vet requested that he see me before I took Gus home. As I waited a whole set of scenarios ran through my head. What was wrong? Did something happen? How bad was it?

Turns out it was good news. Gus was off his insulin and doing fine. We scheduled a blood test for two weeks to confirm the transition had worked. He was very clear that G may need to go back on the insulin in the future, but for the time being no more shots.

I hesitated to tell you this because I like to know things are really OK before celebrating. We went for the blood test on Monday. On Tuesday he refused food. Sigh. All kinds of food were refused, even Greenies. Greenies are the very best thing in the world according to my boys.

So I called my vet's office at five minutes to closing requesting a call from my vet so I could figure out what we needed to do to make it through the night. They offered to see him, can you imagine? I took a few seconds of indecision on my part, because you know what kind of a weirdo I am. Once I said yes, we're on our way, we were in the car before even I knew.

My anxiety was confirmed when G made hardly a sound on the way over. Usually he yowls his head off going and calms on the way home. He was indeed not feeling well at all.

Our vet has a personality that is beyond value to me. He calmed my fears and treated G's symptoms. We went over the blood work that most likely would have been fine if he had continued eating.

While he is not ravenous, G is eating, a bit here, a bit there. Oh Boy when that package of Greenies comes out, I have his attention.

But he still seems off. Both D and I noticed his walk is very tentative. Almost like his back end does not know how to follow correctly. He looks uncomfortable. It is so hard when your kids can not just tell you what is wrong.

But as one of my friends said, Gus is a tough boy. He is eating, on more meds and resting. He has rallied before he will do it again. At least I hope so.

Lovely Lintilla and Gus

I finished my Malachite Lintilla. Luckily Gus was available for the modeling portion of the project. It just goes to show you that all models should not be stick thin. My boy makes my knitting look fabulous!

Otherwise you would have thought that my shawl just looked like this.

All washed out and blah. I think it may have something to do with the sidewalk. Look it happened to my socks too. All washed out and rather lifeless. I'm looking to take another round of pictures for my socks to see if I can bring them back to life.

No really they are much more beautiful than that.

In other knitting news I am loving knitting on my Color Affection shawl. Soon Gus will be modeling that one for you too. Shh, don't tell him I am going to use it myself. I already gave him my Wingspan shawl, how many shawls does a cat need in 70+ degree weather?

Gus's answer; "One for every place I sleep. Get knitting Mom!"... "I love you Mommy."

He is a smart cat he knows to save his demands for food only.

Tucked in

I think Gus still loves his shawl.

What to you think?

I am hoping D will love his new socks just as much.

But then again that is asking quite a bit.

Found

I may have found someone that "needed" a new shawl. You know because it looks so ridiculous on mom.

You know Mom it keeps my combover, slow to grow back from the shaving in July for an ultrasound, pink belly warmer.

I guess I will take a wool shawl if you need me to. I don't want to hear any cat in sheep's clothes jokes though!

Being missed

My G man is back and I don't know who is happier. Gus boarded with the vet while we were away visiting family. Now usually when we return from a trip he goes trough a couple of phases. Phase 1 is happy fun time, he loves us and missed us. Phase 2 is punishment, how dare we leave him! Phase 3 is a gradual change between Phase 2 anger and normalcy.

This time Phase 1 is lasting much longer. He is rubbing on legs and purring up a storm. Last night however it was too much. He kept waking us up by yowling and bringing us yarn. What can I say I really, really missed you guys!

Oddly enough Jack was the chatterbox the night before since he was home alone with us and kept asking us if we forgot someone and where is Gus? Poor lonely Jack. Jack was delighted to get treats from Auntie B while we were away, but still where was Gus? It was the first time Jack was separated for more than a couple of hours.

Gus looks great for having spent a considerable amount of time away from home for the first time. I have no doubt that the Vet's office did all they could for him but really don't we all just want to be home in our own beds? No wait, he had his own bed I took it in with him, and his favorite ball of yarn, toy mouse named yellow, and the fuzzy blanket that Grandma made for me but Gus claims. So really it was more of a spa treatment for him.

Spa treatment? Are you kidding me woman? Spa treatment my fuzzy grey butt!

Phase 2 begins shortly! Nope I still missed them too much maybe tomorrow I will launch Phase 2.

Testing

As you know we started Gus on insulin last week. He has been doing fine so far... Initially Dr B wanted me to monitor his blood sugars and we would adjust the insulin accordingly. Well with him crashing that first night way back in December, none of us have been too eager to poke at the situation.

But I must admit curiosity got the better of me and I think eventually we will need to monitor his bs (blood sugar, anyone else find it funny we're monitoring the cranky cat's bs, just me? OK then.) I bought a monitor and all the stuff that you need. Wow that was an education! Monitors range from under $20 to $100. The test strips are the real kicker though, most if not all are over a dollar a strip. A one time use magic strip that takes your blood and converts it into a needed number. Oh and the lancets which are the finger or ear prick devices, they were reusable and more affordable.

So after I pack all this stuff home I try it on myself first. I can tell you the thought of intentionally wounding yourself is much worse than the action. Don't get me wrong I am very glad it is not a normal part of my life but I certainly survived it. My understanding of how to work my blood with the machine did not pan out so I wounded myself nothing.

D pointed out that I have ready access to an expert at work so I bundled up my monitor, lancet, test strips and faulty knowledge and took it all into work. I was quickly straightened out and found my bs to be 98. Yay I'm normal in one area. I don't think they have developed a test for wool obsession yet, whew. My boss was curious too so we tested her and she was in the normal range too.

D was tested when I got home (at his request, I'm not running around testing everyone I know) and he was under 200 so that is good. Gus on the other hand, wow. Once we figured out how to prick his ear and get blood out, rang in at 333. Yowsa! D pointed out he just ate, was due for his insulin shot and he had been running in the 400s. Still it makes me feel a bit better, since I have not been bugging him as much at night, to make sure he does not drop too low. It makes me question if he really had a small reaction that first night or if it was just paranoid Mom poking her evil head out. He did not eat much that night so I think it was possibly a reaction.

We have learned from a website (always a trustworthy source) that we should try to keep his bs above 100 and below 200 as much as possible. Lofty goals according to todays reading. I think it is better to get there slowly, rather than a big crash that requires hospitalization. My wallet agrees with me, my money would rather end up in a yarn store, assuming everyone is healthy.

Hey, that means I am the lowest one in the family, oh wait Jack. Jackie come here Mommy has a surprise for you.

(Don't worry I would not do it.) I will try for a non Gus post next time but he seems to fit predominantly into my life right now.

What I'm knitting

It is summer and a hot one so far. My knitting has slowed down considerably. This means I have a few things on the needles but they're not going anywhere fast.

First up we have a lovely sock that I talked about before but now have a better picture. It is Stepping Stones from the Knitter's Book of Socks. The yarn is from a local dyer, The Periwinkle Sheep. I was grooving on this one till I hit the heel. Since I added a few repeats my count is off if I do my standard heel. I love my standard heel it fits me so well that I am now unwilling to experiment with other heels. So I need to sit down with the pattern and figure out how to fix my problem, I'm leaning towards just adding a couple of stitches, seems like the easiest route, but is it the best one? So this sock is sitting in time out.

Now my first sport weight socks are not in time out. They got to go to the movies and see The Avengers with their knitter and their future wearer. The were so pumped that they behaved and finished up lickity split. Since these were made with my non standard weight yarn I changed things up a bit. I bought three balls of yarn and knit one sock till I ran out of yarn. They were put on hold and I knit to the same point on the second sock. I finished up a couple of toes and before I knew what happened he had a pair of socks that he can not wear till it cools down. OK so my timing is a bit off, but they are lovely thick socks that I'm sure he will appreciate in the winter.

Also sitting in time out because I misplaced the pattern is my Holden Eggplant shawl. I can not tell you how many times I've had to rip back and redo portions because I kept screwing up the center line of stitches. If I could just find that pattern...

Once I finished D's socks, my purse went without knitting for a week, can you believe it? Good thing I had my Kindle or I would have been a very impatient person. Don't worry I have a new sock started that should be a good purse project. I was questioning my sanity for a time.

Gus update: We started him on insulin injections this weekend and except for a tiny bobble he has been responding very well. I think he may be getting sick of getting checked on frequently. String was fun the first 20 times now he just looks at me as if to say I'm fine go back to your knitting/sleeping/whatever you were doing! It is tough having a Mommy some days.

The Gus Man

Gus and I went for his 3 month check up at the vet's. Dr B said he looks really good. He has picked up a little of his lost weight (Gus, not Dr B) and his fur is back to being the silkiest thing I can touch including silk. I think it all the time but he is one good looking cat.

However his blood sugar was high again, due (we think) to the prednisone. So we're tapering back on that med in hopes that his blood sugar will go down. Gus hates that pill so he is thrilled to see it go. D says the pill tastes bad and this is coming from a guy that will chew aspirin. Yuck!!!

The funny thing with this trip to the vet was the car ride. Gus likes to voice his displeasure, loudly and often. This time he settled in quickly and seemed to relax a bit. I think it is because of the audiobook I was listening to, Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn. The narrator reads in a British accent, since the book is set in London. He seemed especially happy when the French character spoke. Hints of his mother tongue? We like to say his Mother was French and his Father was Russian, since those are the accents that I give him when I speak for him. (Yes I know that I am odd.)

I can recommend the book as an enjoyable mystery tale. I will be getting more of the series. My issue is do I get another audiobook or the Kindle edition? I loved the narrator and enjoyed it as my drive time book so much that I had to listen a bit while I was doing the dishes one night. However the Kindle version is much cheaper, and I have several other audiobooks lined up for my driving time. Hmm do I want to drive and listen or read and knit with the story?

I am finding that I get so much more reading (my first love) done with the audiobooks and Kindle. Sometimes technology is such a blessing. This is coming from one of the last people who is perfectly happy having a dumb phone. I guess I have not felt the need to be able to access the internet from where ever I am. Silly me, I just don't know what I am missing.

Instinct

We had quite the hubub here the other morning. You know how sometimes in the morning you're just not quite with it? You don't have your glasses on and everything is out of focus? Yesterday morning was one of those mornings for me and D.

Part of the reason for me was that Gus was yowling and carrying on in the early morning. That boy sure has some lungs. Jack was tucked in with me. D got up and he likes to sit for a bit in the morning and gather his thoughts usually in the dark. You don't want to gather those thoughts too quickly or you'll be placed in charge of making breakfast.

As I walked into the living room D was saying to Gus; why are you looking at the curtains? I look up to see a fist sized, dark shape move across the top of the curtains. Before you get too freaked out remember I have smaller fists. I grabbed my glasses so I could see and sure enough a mouse was up on our curtains. Freaky!

We both go into What-can-we-use-to-get-it mode. Jack however went into his Mine! mode. D grabs a dishcloth as his weapon and I decide a pep talk to Jack is my most effective thing. My track record is not so good when it comes to mice in the house. Who knows it may even be the same mouse. I tell Jack this time he needs to kill the mouse! D-E-D, dead this time. (Bonus points if you know what movie that is from.)

I start tapping and shaking the curtain to send the mouse D's way and after much scurrying it ends up on the couch. All we saw was a blurr going over the arm of the couch followed by Jacks butt and tail. It all happened so fast! Jack emerged a moment later with something in his mouth and proceeded to the dining room. What? Where do you kill your mice? He dropped the mouse and then sprinted after it and caught it again. I ran to get a paper towel, shouting encouragement all the way.

I returned to find the mouse laying motionless in front of Jack, and my husband with a look of awe on his face. Jack was praised. The mouse was given a paper towel coffin and placed in the outside trash bin.

As D says he was all instinct, a pure killing machine.

Greenies treats and many fur strokes were given in praise to our boys. Gus for pointing him out and Jack for doing the deed. I must tell you I think the mouse was twice the size of a normal sized mouse.

Later in the day I came across this article. Which talks about what would happen if all the cats on the earth died. Other than my heart being completely broken, the rodent population would increase. I refer you to this line from the article:  A study in New Zealand in 1979 found that, when cats were nearly eradicated from a small island, the local rat population quickly quadrupled.

Can you imagine a quadrupled rat population? Even if I can I don't want to!

Well done boys, well done.

Things I have learned

Disclaimer: This will be a raw post about what can go wrong after a vet visit with a cat. We think everything is OK now but I live under no illusions that everything is fine and dandy. We are now trying to maintain the status quo. If you can not deal with it for any reason please stop reading and come back another day.

Mom, you should not read this not because I don't think you can handle it but because you don't need to. I love you now go away. Really go away now. Thanks!

Things I have learned in the past 24 hours.

I can give insulin injections to my cat. I never thought I could give an injection to anyone.

Giving an injection is much easier to do than I ever thought, especially when I know I'm making someone better.

Once we get home I need to trust my instincts. Even if 95% of me says I have seen similar things before. If 5% of me is flashing a warning light call someone. Even if I have to be the crazy cat lady it has never stopped me before.

Sitting across the desk from a diabetic does not make me any more likely to understand and see the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Even when the vet talked specifically about them.

It is just as easy to think that a tough day at the vet's could be the reason why Gus looks wiped out, not low blood sugar.

Gus gets really glassy eyed when his blood sugar is dropping.

Gus' blood sugar can drop 220 points in 5 hours. Far into the danger area.

I thank God that something woke me up and made me check on him. And that the tired little voice in my head started screaming something is wrong.

Cats can have seizures when their blood sugar gets too low. In Gus it starts off with leg twitches and move into full body rigidness that scare the Holy living day lights out of me!

Non-responsive is my least favorite word, ever.

One way to raise blood sugar in a cat is to give them karo syrup or maple syrup. Doing this while Gus is non-responsive is so very hard/impossible. Rub the syrup on his gums.

Always know who and where the emergency vet is BEFORE you need to know it at midnight with a seizing cat.

Thank God that my husband can stay level headed and drive while I talk to Gus and tell him, he is a fighter he can beat this.

I can pray and pep talk at the same time. God knows what is on my heart!

It is an awful thing to watch him seize and not be able to do anything about it. And alternately when he was not twitching, to be wondering if he is still with me. If we're going to make it in time.

I don't cry when I'm trying to save Gus, I do shake. Boy do I shake.

I am going to break down soon and cry, till I can not cry anymore.

If you counter act low blood sugar with the proper treatment Gus will come out of everything amazingly quickly. I am talking 5 to 15 minutes of treatment and he stopped having seizures, was up walking and recognizing us.

Once D and I have that much adrenaline pumped through us it is very difficult to get back to sleep for the remaining four hours. We will both be awake three to four times during that time. We're exhausted and elated that he is alright.

My vet will call me on his day off to make sure everything is alright. I still love my vet.

I do want to say I don't blame my vet, diabetes is an amazingly complicated disease. We had one awful night but it is not my vet's fault. (If you disagree with me I ask that you kindly keep it to yourself for the time being.)

Gus is like me when he gets home, walks around to make sure everything is Ok, eat, pee, then finally go to bed exhausted.

This is an old picture not from tonight.

You will excuse me I have a cat to check in on.

My Knitting Companions

I don't know who was more thrilled the I learned to knit, me or my companions. The funny thing is that the usually choose the same side of me to sit on.

Gus is my left hand cat.

And Jack is my right hand cat.

You can make a pretty good mom and yarn sandwich this way.

One up, one down

I forgot to tell you the meds are working for Gus. No barfs and we have his appetite and personality back. I can not tell you how happy that makes me. I do think it makes him happier. After one bad day he has been taking his pills like a champ. He does not like them but he takes them. I knew chances were good that he would forgive me for being "the evil pill chucker" when he brought me his favorite rat.

I would be the down one. We helped clean up the grounds at church on Saturday and boy am I feeling it. I think my right hamstring is 2 inches shorter. My walk looks a bit like Frankenstein's, minus the arms and the ughhhhs.

I must be feeling pained because I decided today that I would read Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy this summer. Of course I promptly went to the library on my way home and picked up a bunch of books that were not that one. Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

I have discovered my library has books on blogging, so I checked out half them. Sometimes it is like I think the knowledge will seep into me if I bring them home with me. I forget to actually sit down and read them. I'm hoping to pick up some tips and suggestions that will help me here. Maybe I will even learn how to use HTML. Boy do I sound ambitious.

We were at the bookstore this weekend and I still have a gift card from my birthday burning a hole in my purse. Who knew free money is even hard for me to spend. I find things that I like but then think I should check at the library to see if they have it first. Why spend money on something I can get for free.

Do you ever see people in bookstores buying big stacks of books? That would never be me. I love books but I know my tastes are way too eclectic. It is a case of my eyes being bigger than my attention span. I always feel bad when I spend money on a book that I don't like. Seems like such a waste to me. Add to that I am not what I would call an intellectual and we have a case of book buyer's remorse.

Have you ever read a page of a novel several times trying to figure out what they are talking about, when all they are doing is going to the store? Seriously a whole page telling me that, in words that I assume even you had to look up in the dictionary and thesaurus? I get it you're smarter than me can you just tell the story? I've learned to read book reviews and synopsis the way I read wine bottles. The word tannin on a bottle of wine will get my attention, if it is not preceded by the words soft or well rounded, that bottle is back on the shelf. The words satire and literary do the same for me with books.

What can I say I am a simple girl. One that has read Crime and Punishment and The Count of Monte Cristo but simple non the less.

Ooops

I woke up to the sound of a cat throwing up. Dang it, after yesterday went so well I had high hopes we were on the end of this thing. The vet told me we should see dramatic improvement adding in the prednisone (which we had seen). And if Gus did not stop throwing up he needed to see him on Monday.

So as I stumble out in to the hallway at 5 am, trying to avoid any dark spots on the carpet, I am already dreading the news he will tell me.

Here I must tell you I am a bad mommy because I was happy to see Jack throwing up instead of Gus. Gus is still puke free!!!! Poor Jack cleaned out his system of hair balls. I remember saying how odd it is to see Jack doing that.

So no vet visit yet for us. Well at least we're avoiding an urgent one. They both seem fine and that is the best gift a cat can give his mother.

Feeling Better?

Yes, that is the question Gus has been hearing last night and today. Based on the items he brought to me the answer is yes, just a bit. Vet has him on Pepcid AC and Prednisone now.

Oh and what a Houdini he is at taking pills. Well he is a Houdini at not taking pills. I think I am getting better at it now or he was just too sick and groggy to put up much of a fight. I caught him while he was still sleepy a couple of times. I swear the first time I tried to give him a pill years ago that pill must have been on the floor 20-30 times. I think he learned a lesson that day, Mom does not give up when it comes to administering medication! Dang It! (D had to learn that lesson too, Dang it!)

So now every time is a test of will. I keep telling him if he just took the pill I would leave him alone quicker. He has not yet decided to believe me.

So you know that Gus will bring yarn to me. Yep I have my very own in house yarn supplier, or I should say yarn retriever because I still have to buy the yarn and bring it into the house. Although maybe we should sit down for an online yarn buying lesson this week, oh he does not have a credit card and our color choices would probably not be the same.

After three good doses of meds. he is back to bringing me stuff. Today I received his yellow crocheted rat, a Henry VIII bear and a ball of left over Malibrigo yarn. Do you think I am forgiven for being the "pill chucker"? Yea I don't think so either. He is just happy to not be so inflamed.

So keep praying for us I would like this process to not be too scarring for either of us

Oh Bother!

I finished a pair of socks and wore them today. As always they feel lovely.

I am currently torn between two shawl patterns (Icarus or Prairie Rose) and am using that as an excuse for not casting on the project. It is a good thing too since still have a sweater on the needles for D, and two other first of a pair socks on the needles for me. I am also hunting through the stash for a sock yarn to round out my sock trifecta. I am beating back that urge by using the time to actually knit on before mentioned socks.

I think my sweater mojo has left me. Well that is not true I think I am delaying an issue. I am in fear that I will not have enough yarn to finish D's sweater. If I don't knit on it then it is procrastination holding me back not yarn requirement. I comforted myself with the though that I have a full skein for the other sleeve and a partial skein left over from the body of the sweater. Then I realized I still have to knit the collar too. Craptastic!

D's comment was can't you get more yarn? Yes and No, I can get more yarn but it probably be in a different dye lot (since I bought all they had of that color), which means it maybe a noticeably different color.

I alway worry about yarn running out. Tomorrow I will post a picture that shows why I worry.

And most worrisome is that Gus seems to be sick. He is throwing up all the time. We have gone through this twice now where I get him all checked out and it is not urgent. Last time we narrowed it down to Irritable Bowel. Now I can not get him to take the medication. Hiding it in his treats worked for a time but he figured that one out. Now crushing it with some tuna juice is not working. I may have to feed it to Jack just to prove I am not poisoning him.

The good thing is that he seems to still be himself. He swats at yarn and hands that come near him. He got a good nap in on my lap this evening so that made me feel better but then he got up and threw up. My poor guy. I have a call into the vet for tomorrow, we shall see.

My knitting mojo & silly cat tricks

Hey if any of you find my knitting mojo will you send it back to me. I keep thinking about what I want to knit and not starting any of it. This happened last summer also. It is like I don't love wool as much when it is over 70 degrees outside. Wool should be good for me any time of the year.

Speaking of wool love I have to tell you about our cat Gus. You'll remember he is the self proclaimed Momma cat. Turns out he also teaches himself new tricks. To show love to someone (usually D) he brings a yarn rat to you while yowling through said rat. Well when I started knitting more yarn appeared in the house so Gus thought it was for him. He now brings us balls of yarn in the middle of the night and leaves them at the foot of the bed. I swear if he had thumbs he would be a knitter and out knit me even though he sleeps 18+ hours a day.
This is my yarn, it is what I do. You would not understand, silly human.
